  • Gold $1,269.20
    • B2 Gold @ 2.67
  • Observations:
    • MRC is top gainer and LSC is top loser
  • Notes:
    • AC - avg down if it pulls back to 530
    • BDO -
    • PX
    • LCB

Bears came out of hibernation. After that, trading was on sidelines. Market will retest 6100 resistance. Traders watching on the sidelines I guess before positioning. According to COLing the Shots of COLFinancial, it is a good time for accumulation. Tonight and tomorrow will be FOMC Meeting while there is no trading on Friday, Chinese New Year.

Mining stocks has a positive outlook due to focus on gold assets while currencies like our peso weakens.

Down to a week before going back onsite. Lots of things to accomplish on my checklist!

Cheers!

my current portfolio, what would u suggest?

Fig.1 PSE index, is this going to 6200?

Why are mining stock on the rise? Is it due to:
a) Dollar appreciation?
b) Rise in metal price/demand?
c) A reversal from last year?
d) None of the above
e) According to what I read, there is an increase in bullion sales. "This week, gold tended to rise as equities and the U.S. dollar fell." (tamang hinala rin yung peso depreciation ng kaibigan ko). Please read article here and here. Yan lang mga nakalap ko. Kung ok ba yung source, I dunno. hehe

Stock Chart: JGS

Fig. 1 JGS Stock Chart courtesy of COLFinancial

Why BUY?
  • Potential upside once it breaks 50MA and 23.6% Fibonacci. Then, fills the gap until 41.5 and further retrace to 46-47 based on Fibo.
  • MACD Signal nearly crossing the centerline while its histogram is above 0.
  • Low Volume suggests die down of sellers (also refer to DMI). It might be the right time to accumulate
  • Market has already breached 6,000 level and I think of it as a strong support now
  • COLFinancial BUY rating with an FV of 48/sh (24.7% upside)
  • Good buy short to medium term. (a breakout is on the horizon, range trading at 38-39ish)
Risks:
  • Death Cross (200MA crossing 50MA)
  • Market pulls back again to 5,900

Trade Notes

What happened today?
Market is now above 6,000. Will there be a profit taking tomorrow, or another push towards 6,050? Watch out for volume :)

My Portfolio as of 21 Jan 2014

I am heavily invested in PX now :) More room to grow looking at the charts. Fundamental HOLD or Technical SELL? We'll see. LCB still far from my average price, but will definitely let go of this one.
AC and BDO, just keep on accumulating while it is down. I am very happy how things are going. A great way to start 2014.

Why are mining stock on the rise? Is it due to:
a) Dollar appreciation?
b) Rise in metal price/demand?
c) A reversal from last year?
d) None of the above

I cannot answer, will do research after this....

Cheers!

Stock Charts: AC, BDO, LCB, PX and B2 Gold

Fig. 1 AC Stock Chart courtesy of COLFinancial

AC trying to break resistance at 540 then 50MA. Plenty of room to go up as MACD indicates. Profit taking might occur as STS is overbought. Accumulate is an option as market has breached the 6,000 level already.

Fig. 2 BDO Stock Chart courtesy of COLFinancial

BDO trying to break resistance at 73 then 50MA. Plenty of room to go up as MACD indicates (about to cross the centerline). Profit taking might occur as STS is overbought. Accumulate is an option as market has breached the 6,000 level already.

Fig. 3 LCB Stock Chart courtesy of COLFinancial

LCB already broke 50MA. MACD good sign of continuing upward momentum. Profit taking might occur as STS and RSI are overbought. The resurgence of mining stocks is confirmed by the DMI line pointing up.

Fig. 4 PX Stock Chart courtesy of COLFinancial

PX, like LCB, already broke 50MA (3rd time). MACD good sign of continuing upward momentum. Profit taking might occur as STS is overbought. The resurgence of mining stocks is confirmed by the DMI line pointing up. Clearly a buy!

Fig. 5 B2 Gold Stock Chart courtesy of stockcharts.com

For the past few days, B2 Gold broke its 50 and 200SMA. MACD good sign of continuing upward momentum (rally is evident). Profit taking might occur as RSI is overbought. Bullish long candles matched by hefty volume clearly signals a buy!
