Gastrolith Grahams

gastrolith, also called a stomach stone or gizzard stones, is a rock held inside a gastrointestinal tract. Gastroliths are retained in the muscular gizzard and used to grind food in animals lacking suitable grinding teeth. (Wikipedia)

Gastroliths Grahams- chewy and yummy, made by me and my buddy, go ahead and grab a bite!

Looks good?

Tastes even better!

History:
After having lunch, on our way to COLFin's Free Seminar on Stock Investment, my Engr. friend/HS buddy handed out a plastic with small rounded goodies. I grabbed one and definitely liked it. I am fond of sweet stuff and I told him I'm gonna make my own as well.

I went home, bought ingredients and relied on my taste buds on what were the right ingredients. I bought this and that, mixed until the right consistency. I molded, chilled and served to my favorite customers, my sisters and cousins. They liked it, I loved it. I'll make more...

I came back onsite and together with my Baklad business partner decided to cater our Monthly Meeting. However, changes in the plan resulted to making this rounded goodies. While molding, my friend came up with this unique geological term "Gastrolith". Hands down, it was way too better than my botryoidal or coprolite term hahaha. It was chilled and served next day in the office. Like my sisters, they loved it. They were asking for more.

And that was the start of the "Gastrolith Grahams Era"

Update:
We already perfected our 'classic' flavor. We are trying new flavors, new mixture and new coating.
We are also finalizing our product lay out. Better watch out...

Very historical. A big step for our country to continue our fight against corruption. For our president, +100 points for your political will, but -50 points for why only now? (takot sa rally, hehe) I hope this translates to positive outlook on our stock market and encourage foreign investors that our country is really fighting against corruption.

I am not scared that my portfolio is bloody red. I am taking the opportunity to buy my long term chips on discounted prices. I am very optimistic that we will reach higher tides soon. I haven't done any TA with my buying today. I relied on my vision... 20/20 hehe...

If it goes down, I will buy again. Average down, yes, because what goes up must come down. It's a cycle, you just have to wait and... believe...

                    Stock Divi MBT Part 2

Good day! Yesterday I posted about MBT's disclosure on its 30% stock dividend.
Mr. Banker answered my queries and below was his reply:

                    WEEKEND NOTES

*A number of posts back, I wrote that there was a long list of firms that have declared stock dividends some time ago. Their ex-dates and payout date announcements however have remained under TBA for several months now.

*LR did come out with the details to its 20% stock dividend payment recently. Today, MBT followed suit. Hopefully, we will get to read announcements by the others like SECB (20%)…BRN (25%)…CPG (25%)…PSE (20%)…ABA (10%) and ATN (2%) in the coming days.

*MBT’s 30% stock dividend details had Aug 29, 2013 as its ex-date and Sep 16, 2013 as its payment date. That means that you must be the holder of its shares at least on the opening bell of its ex-date of Aug 29 to be entitled to the stock dividends on payment date. From then on, your entitlement will be there even if you sell your original shares on the very first second of trading at ex-date.

*You cannot sell, of course, your stock dividends on ex-date. This is because there are no stock dividend shares yet to sell. Your shares shall only be there when they are recorded under your name on payment date of September 16.

*I did receive today a pm from one of our FM friends on the MBT stock dividend announcement. Let me just post my reply here in the thread so that other opinions can also be shared that may be different from mine.

*Here is what our friend wrote:

                    Mr. Banker,

Good afternoon. I am Xxxxxxx Xxxx, a beginner on stocks and a follower of your thread.

I have bought MBT @ 110.00price on July 17th and just read their disclosure on their 30% stock dividend release.

May I ask your help on how is it gonna affect MBT in the following weeks?

Also, would you recommend adding some more shares just to avail that 30%?

Thank you very much Mr. Banker.

*Here are my thoughts on his queries. In theory, stock dividends do not increase the value of one’s investment in a firm. While investors’ shares increase in number, the market capitalization of the firm remains the same. Market sentiment and company earnings are the ones that have more relative impact on the listed company’s market price.

*MBT’s behavior in the coming days till the day before its ex-date shall be determined much by market sentiment towards to the stock. Today, it bucked the general red trend as it rallied back from intraday lows to close at least positively by +P0.10. That looks like positive sentiment to me.

*Yes, it might be because of the stock dividend details announcement that many have been waiting for. A 30% stock dividend is significant in reducing the future average cost of acquiring MBT shares. A reduction in price increases market attractiveness from retail investors. To long term holders, the stock dividends also improves dividend yields if one assumes that MBT will maintain its current P1.00 cash dividend payout per share.

*Thus, my read is that if OVERALL market sentiment is positive or …at least neutral…till the day before MBT’s stock dividend ex-date, MBT should likely still improve on its current price. This is also because it is currently trading at the lower end of its historical trading price range. But if OVERALL market is spooked for whatever reason, that would be a different story.

*On ex-date, MBT’s price will however be adjusted before opening bell. If such price before ex-date is P112…purely as an example…the adjusted price that one will see under “previous price” will be P86.15.

*Using the example above, will it trade higher than 86.15 on ex-date? Nobody knows…or more truthfully, I don’t know. It all depends on market sentiment on such date.

*Will I recommend to our friend adding more shares to avail of the 30%? My answer is that it is still so many days away from Aug 28…the day before ex-date. With the current volatility in markets, personally I will make that decision for myself to add or not closer to ex-date. At such time, I shall be adding if overall market sentiment is positive or at least neutral considering I do like the upside on MBT shares.

A pleasant weekend to all of us !!!

Many thanks to Mr. Banker for enlightening not just me but also my fellow traders.

                    Stock Divi MBT

This afternoon I learned about the release date of MBT's stock dividend, here: MBT 30% Stock Dividend Disclosure.

A few days ago, I received a similar dividend, from AC, but this one is different. It is a stock dividend. Since I am new to trading and first time to experience this, I looked for these terms in Investopedia, here: Dissecting Declarations, Ex-Dates and Record Dates

I am not satisfied with what I read. I want some opinion from experienced traders to determine what might be the dividends effect on MBT's price action for the following days/weeks. I went to Finance Manila and asked Mr. Banker.

Surfer's Bags and Mr. Banker's Notes is one of the two threads I am following on Finance Manila Forum. And as the title implies, you won't ask for someone else rather than Mr. Banker who is very knowledgeable of the banking sector and of course trading. I sent him a private message and wait for his response.

At the end of today's trading session, MBT had a slight gain of 0.09%. It was the #1 in volume traded and this might be due to traders who finally got a piece of MBT (+ the expected 30% stock divi).

What I think is before the ex-date of the dividend, price will soar (increase in demand) and I might be tempted to sell my share even before I get the dividend. Anyway, I'll wait for Mr. Banker who will enlighten me further.

                    You're in good hands. Believe.

It felt so good selling my 2 picks with profit. My purpose of trying the effectiveness of Technical Indicators has been achieved. One area to improve is to determine when to enter as I was 2 days late and could have bought earlier. This week's activity gave me more confidence on what I am doing and a push to do more research. I am not really emotional on buying and selling as my goal is to focus on what the indicators have to offer. Practice practice lang pag may time.

I have limited trading next week as I am going back onsite. But it will not prevent me from being a more educated trader.

                    Financial Literacy

Hi, thanks for dropping by. In order to grasp the content of this page, please read all following articles. Do not skip, scan, worst close this page. This is all about Financial Literacy and how it affects each and everyone of us. You might tell me you already know this but hey, read again and it might be worth to share those articles to people who need to be educated. It's not too late you know.

Am I making cents here? hehe

My first encounter with the term "financial literacy" was when we had one of the sharing sessions within our department. The aim is to strengthen our ties by sharing thoughts within our group. In this particular date, one of my co-workers talked about "financial literacy". I was surprised and enlightened about what he said, because it was something I have been doing, but is not enough. The topic also reflected about my plans for 2013 which are stock investing and business set up. We were very glad that the session ended up on a positive note. We were encouraged by our Chief that we as the next generation of our country should take the opportunity to invest as early as we can. After that, I was really keen on setting up my goals in terms of investing for family plans and retirement.

Now, I hope it gave you some kind of a headstart on what the articles are gonna tackle. Let's start from the oldest topic: (as always, just click the link)

                    • 2012 Sept. 29, The quest for financial education
                      • This article gives statistical data from survey about Filipinos general measure of financial-being, are you one of them? Aminin mo na. :P
                    • 2013 Feb 26, Financial Planning, Pinoy Style
                      • I really like this article as I can relate to each and every point the author has made. According to Randell Tiongson, the author, "I believe that our problems(financial) are largely behavioral and cultural...Filipino parents expect their children to support them financially". I know you will argue but read first and understand the argument, ok.
                    • 2013 Aug 6, Financial literacy and inclusive growth
                      • An updated article for financial literacy. Now that everything can be asked from Mr. Google, there are a lot of ways to be educated these days. "Pag ayaw madaming dahilan... nuknukan ng dami!"

I hope you had a good time reading. I want to educate and enlighten others in order to raise our economy to new heights. We are the workforce of our nation, we earn money and we spend them. It drives the economy. Supply and demand. Buying and Selling. We should be financial literate to manage our money so we can have a sustainable life until we retire. Our richest countrymen started from scratch (pwera yung mga na popork barrel scam at iba pang kurakots), why can't we?

                    Gets mo???

Here it goes, B2 Gold will ride the waves of the gold price, we know that. But when to sell your stock options depends on the timing and of course your decision. Technical analysis is one way to give you an idea when to sell shares. There are plenty of indicators to look at. We scientists and engineers can easily understand this as we have encountered lots of graphs during our Math and Physics series. You can view my simple analysis by clicking to enlarge photo. And to cut things short, if commodities will surge price by end of next year according to analysts, expect your pockets to be full. bwahaha. I'm very optimustic prime!

                    Work safe everyone!

                    Cheers!

"It starts with one thing. I don't know why. It doesn't really matter how hard you try. Keep that in mind, I designed this rhyme to explain in due time. All I know, time is a valuable thing. Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings. Watch it count down to the end of the day, the clock ticks life away".

Last night I browsed FB to check what's happening around my contact list and saw photos posted from the recent Linkin Park Concert. Kainggit! I guess am just too busy with my investment plans to let slip something like this. "Di man lang nagyaya... ampota..." Anyway, babalik din sila, I'll just play my favorite album of LP-Hybrid Theory.

                    Lessons Learned:
                    1. For Board Takers: Granite's extrusive counterpart is Rhyolite. The Half Dome Granite at Yosemite National Park is one of the famous granite around the world.
                    2. Marubozu: A candlestick with no shadow extending from the body at either open, close or at bottom. The name means close-cropped or close-cut in Japanese though other interpretations refer to it as Bald or Shaven Head
                    3. A marubozu shows increase buying pressure. Ayos!

                    • Last night I was able to create my own login for FM Forum. A prompt appeared when I tried to view the columns of my idol traders.  I was viewing it as a guest ever since but  wait, there’s no harm when you’re registering for free! It took only a few moments and tada… I’m officially a member of Finance Manila Forum.

                    Gold Price
                    • Gold = $1600!!! I read this article from CNBC, which was posted by a member of FM.  I hope they are right as what I know, commodities will bounce back later next year. Well if this happens, say hello to 14th month pay and my stock options. Mas maligaya ang Pasko!  #pusongminero

                    Cheers!
